Pikahsso - The Best of Clayface Jones

Since I mentioned Pikahsso earlier when I posted Gylo, here is "The Best of Clayface Jones". It's sort of an album/compilation of stuff from the early 2000's from what I can tell. No date on the CD, so I will call it circa 2004. Features Steve Austin, Gugu, Money Waters, Jadaman, and D Style. There are some gems on here for sure so enjoy.

Production is handled by Saahir, C.E.D, DJ Remote, Five Star, and R.O.Z.

Gylo - Tha Planet

Gylo is 1/3 of "The Mighty Trilogy" (a sort-of group that never quite happened also featuring Steve Austin and Pikahsso). This album is pretty solid and features Steve Austin, Pikahsso, Lil Cas, Money Waters, Lachelle, Briaun, Miz, Twelve, Deville, Suave Dre, V Dogg, and Zero. Production by Cho, Tonio, Gugu, Itch, and PNut. No date on it so I'm saying around 1993-94ish.

Olmann - "Blind, Krippled & Krazy" EP

Here's some street shit from the DFW underground. I'm not sure what happened to Olmann after he dropped this and was featured on Young Bleed's "Rise Thru Tha Ranks", but this CD is dope. When you compare this to the Epatomed CD (for example) that I posted earlier you can see the range of DFW Hip Hop that makes it such an interesting, dynamic scene. This came out in 2004 I believe. I don't know the names of all the guests except for D Lyric and Money Waters. As far as I know the production is from Dawgs Dabatto for at least "Marian Juana" and "We Get Down", but I'm not sure else produced on this.

Kin Fok Kru ft. BruhNLaw

I imagine that every Hip Hop head in Dallas has at least heard of Kin Fok Kru, even if they don't know any songs off hand. I'm not really sure if this was supposed to be a Bruh N Law album, EP, or sampler, but it's still dope. Production from DJ Spinn, VJ, Dreak (also featured on the same track), and Rob Viktum. I don't have a date on this, but place it about 2004-2005.

Brown Lion - City Zoo Sampler

Here is the sampler/single from Brown Lion's City Zoo (2005) that includes the tracks "Happy Now" and "Serengeti Knock Knock" along with three song snippets. Production is handled by Pumah. Dude had something, so it's too bad I could never find the whole album. Check out the sampler below.

La Familia - Fire: Volume 1

This week I'm putting up a Grimelife CD I found: La Familia "Fire: Volume 1". There's no date on it, but I think most of this was recorded circa 2005.
It's got some gems on it, which it should since it's 29 tracks deep and features Knecesary, Blade, J.O., Kast, Max Payne, Thredz, J-Vic, Blast, Defekt, Boogie, Vladamir, and Elements.
There's not much of an insert so I don't know who produced what. I don't know if there was ever a Volume 2, but this is a mostly solid CD and worth checking out.

This week I am posting the Verse EP from Versatile. This CD is 5 tracks deep from 2004... and it looks like a record which is kinda fresh. Enjoy.

Epatomed - Liquid Bricks

For the first album posted here, I have chosen Epatomed's Liquid Bricks (Lessons in Simplistic Complexity). This album is a classic from the DFW underground scene. The group Epatomed ("demo tape" backwards), is a dope and respected group that's been around for over a decade. The group is made up of Saahir, Req, and Jeurah. Sadly, we lost Saahir (and his wife, True Asia) to a tragic accident in 2003. This album, released in 2001, is still a great example of the music of the DFW hip hop scene. Production is handled mostly by Saahir, but also features Req, EZ Eddie D, Shawkon, Moses, and R.O.Z.

Check it out and enjoy...

...and this is for...

I'm gonna use this blog to post music, videos, links, downloads, and other info on underground Hip Hop artists. I will primarily post Hip Hop music from the Dallas/Ft Worth (Texas) area, but will post up anything else obscure that I don't see anywhere else or that I feel like keeping alive.
